Established by some bewildered Parents of the thalassaemics, who got together to form the organization with the objective to deliver systematic hassle free treatment facilities and also to spread awareness for prevention of thalassaemia. The society also helps to promote and organise Blood donation camps.

The organisation initiated their own footings and started their first office at 1B, Grant Street Kolkata- 700 013.

As the requirement for more space for the treatment of the thalassaemics grew, TSI shifted its base to SVS Marwari Hospital. This enabled the organisation to serve more and more patients.

TSI started its full-fledged treatment centre at 48 A, Muktaram Babu Street, Kolkata-700 007. The society runs its own 14-bed treatment centre where more than 300 Thalassaemia patients are given regular blood transfusion and other relevant treatments. The patients receive transfusion at a subsidised cost and around 20% of the patients are treated free of cost.
